Precious Scars

Precious Scars

This is something that I started three years ago, and stumbled across it yesterday, still in its unfinished form. I’m not sure that the ending fits seamlessly, buts that’s rather like the subject of the poem itself, isn’t it?

Precious Scars

Come closer
and show me your precious scars
Bear witness
to all they have to say

They are your story
Let them tell it loudly
They are your beauty
Wear them proudly

Do not hide them
Nor resent them
For without their lines, their redness
You wouldn’t be you

Once, experiences broke you
And time
sweet precious time
has healed you

Revel in your truth
Bask in the love that surrounds you
Embrace it, own it
For you, my love
are beauty personified
